The Agency is an administrative authority, non-profit, established on April 22, 2015, based on the Government Decision no. 191 under the name of National Agency for Quality Assurance in Professional Education (ANACIP). Since February 28, 2018, based on Government Decision no. 201, ANACIP was renamed into the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Education and Research (ANACEC).
The Agency consists of the Governing Board, including President, Vice-President, Secretary-General; profile committees; and administrative apparatus comprising the leadership, 4 Directions, 8 Sections, and 6 Services. As far as the administrative apparatus is concerned, 37 persons out of 55 are currently employed in the agency.
The mission of ANACEC is to implement state policies and contribute to the development oriented towards the best international standards by promoting quality culture in general education, vocational education and training, higher education, continuous training, research and innovation organizations. The main objectives and functions of the Agency are to contribute to the development and promotion of quality culture in general education, vocational education and training, higher education, continuous training, research and innovation institutions; to evaluate the study programs and the capacity of the education providers in order to achieve quality standards; to evaluate the capacity of research and innovation organizations; and to ensure the application of national standards and of the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area in education at all levels.
